Alka Kumari
Hello! I’m Alka Kumari, a self-taught acrylic painter based in Toronto, Ontario. Although I graduated in Software Engineering, art has always been my true passion. Throughout my years in engineering, I continued developing my artistic skills alongside my studies, dedicating countless hours to practice, online learning, and hands-on exploration. I never attended art school. My style and technique are the result of years of dedication, experimentation, and a deep love for creating. Over time, I’ve worked with a variety of mediums including watercolor, graphite, sculpture, oils, and acrylic. Acrylic became my primary medium for live wedding paintings because of its vibrancy, versatility, and ability to capture moments beautifully on canvas. I also use watercolor for guest portraits, which allows for soft, expressive keepsakes.
Before specializing in wedding painting, my work focused on landscapes, seascapes, and natural elements. My paintings reflect my personal journey, while also connecting with people from all walks of life. I take pride in creating art that tells a story and resonates emotionally with others. Much of my inspiration comes from nature and meaningful human connections, with many of my pieces centered around evoking a sense of serenity. When painting outdoor weddings, my background in capturing natural scenery allows me to thoughtfully portray the environment surrounding the couple , whether it’s a glowing sunset, a misty garden, or a bright open sky. I’ve been painting portraits for over 10 years and began my live painting journey through plein air work before transitioning into weddings.
My mission as an artist is to create heartfelt artwork that preserves life’s most meaningful memories. I feel honored to capture special moments like a first dance, first look, or joyful celebration with loved ones. Every painting is created with close attention to detail and a deep commitment to bringing each couple’s unique vision to life.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my journey as an artist. I’d be honored to create something meaningful for you, a piece of art that you can cherish for a lifetime.
